Crusius. He is presently employed at the University of Salamanca, Spain, teaching and lecturing to medical students. He is married and has a son.

Carlos Gonzales, of Costa Rica, is employed by LASCA, and is teaching English to the airline mechanics with whom he works. He visited El Paso in 1965 and 1971. Leon Aylward, Jr. of El Paso, visited Carlos in Costa Rica in 1966, 1970, 1972, and 1973. Carlos began a special school in March, 1974, in connection with his work with the airlines. He is determined to become an English teacher. He is married and has three children, the youngest born in February, 1974.

Edith Larson graduated from the University of Copenhagen, where she specialized in languages. In August, 1974, she will complete a three-year nurses training course at a Copenhagen hospital, and she hopes to return to the United States later to take special training in the nursing profession. She visited the Robert Mayne, Jr. family in 1969, and in July, 1972, Mrs. Mayne visited Edith and her family while on an European trip.

Julio Oliveira has been employed since he returned to Brazil but has written little of his activities.

Carolyn Cousins and her sister visited the Richard Berlins in 1973 while they were on a round-the-world tour and have returned to their home in Melbourne, Australia, where they are employed by the government.

El Paso High School does not put the emphasis on languages as most European schools do, so Gerlinde Wagner of Germany repeated her senior year in high school after returning to her home in 1973. She is presently attending the equivalent of our Junior College.

Sebastiao Nunes, who was also here in 1972-73, is employed part time at the Hilton Hotel in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and March 1, 1974 began a course at a special tourism school.

CITY GOVERNMENT – During the past twenty years, El Paso has been served by a number of very capable mayors, starting with George Graack and continuing with William Maxey who resigned on August 15, 1960. Alderman Dwight Roth was chosen to complete Maxey's term and was later elected in his own right. Upon Roth's death on February 13, 1965, V. F. Bower, who was alderman from the 3rd ward was named acting mayor. Franklin Jones was elected mayor in 1969 and served until June 6, 1972 when he resigned and was replaced by Robert Edwards as acting mayor. Robert W. Rebbec was elected mayor early in 1973 but resigned in September of that year. Donald Benedict was then named acting mayor, and he was then elected on January 15, 1974 at a special election. Benedict has the distinction of being El Paso's youngest mayor, being only 24 years old when elected to that office. The previous record was held by the late H. H. Baker who was 26 years old when he became mayor. Grant Armstrong is city clerk and Loren E. Ludwig is city treasurer, a post he has held since 1949. At the
